On April 18th, ABC, CBS, NBC, and several other networks broadcasted a multi-hour event put on by Global Citizen, The World Health Organization, and Lady Gaga. The event was titled “One World: Together at Home” that featured musicians, global health experts, and world leaders.
The following link is to my Twitter thread on the event.

For this assignment, I tried to use a journalism approach by posting only the facts and direct quotes about the event. This worked out well I believe. I tweeted about when and who was getting introduced and what they were doing to contribute to the cause. I listed the songs the musicians sang and gave direct quotes of the hosts and participants from the event.
I did not enjoy this experience. The event ended up being extremely long, and I found it difficult to tweet as fast as they were talking. They would show a link that I would want to tweet, and as I’m trying to type it, it went away. It was extremely hard to keep up which made the experience frustrating.
I learned that knowing the people in the live event helped me spell their names right. I also learned that speaking into my phone helped spell names and helped me get the direct quote word for word.
It surprised me how slow I felt trying to type crucial information. My biggest worry was that I would spell a name for organization wrong. I wish I could have been speaking into my microphone to form the words in the tweet sooner. It was a much easier method of getting the direct quotes onto the tweet.
I see myself using the live tweeting when promoting or reporting on an event I attend in the future. This can help promote my career and gain credibility for stories in the future.
