I expected to learn how several and multiple types of media are involved in Journalism. Even though I have been involved and have experienced most of the types of media, I was unaware that they could each be used for journalism efforts.
I definitely gained the knowledge that there are more apps to use in certain media production. For example, I have always used GarageBand for audio editing. However, in this class I was able to reach away from what I am used to and try something new, like Audacity.

Some soft skills that I learned in this class were being a good listener and being a problem solver. When it comes to audio interviews, I am really bad about interrupting, saying ‘um,’ or reacting verbally to the things that interviewee is saying. This is because the audio recording would usually just be for myself to listen back to write a story.
When it came to the google maps assignment, I struggled with setting it up. That was one of the few media platforms I had never worked with before. However, I was able to figure out what I needed once I looked into it more. I was able to solve several of the problems I was running into.
In my future career, I believe I can be assigned a task and be able to do it on my own, especially if it relates to any type of media.
The assignment that was most meaningful to me was blog post 7 when we created Google Maps. This was meaningful because I got to work closely with my mom on it. She is currently living out of the country. It was fun for me to be able to create a map of an out-of-country place that I will be able to visit soon.
The most challenging assignment for me was blog post 4. The story I chose ended up being extremely out of the way. The ranch that I wrote about was forty-five minutes out of town. It was difficult to find time in between class, homework, and work to be able to go out of the way to write about it. However, I did end up pleasantly surprised with the result of the story.
I would tell myself to challenge myself more. A lot of the projects consisted of media production that I had already experienced before through previous schooling and work. I stuck to what I knew and did not try much that was different.
